There are a lot of reasons I love outdoor photography sessions here at our private family farm. There are just as many reasons I enjoy the sessions that take place in my cozy natural light studio, though! For growing families, especially, scheduling a studio photo session can be more convenient, flexible, and easier to manage.
Here are a few of the reasons to consider a studio photo session.
For parents with little ones, especially, booking a studio photo session is much easier to schedule than outdoor photos. Outdoor photos are planned around the sun’s position at certain times of day. Plus, I take into consideration how different setups and locations on my property will photograph in its light.
Studio sessions give us the flexibility to book sessions at times that work best for clients. That means no matter when naps, meals, and other routines happen, we can find a window that’s convenient for you.
That way, you don’t have to worry about potential meltdowns over missed naps, or pushing past bedtimes for sunset photos. Instead, we create the light we need indoors at whatever time is convenient for your session!
I love Georgia, but boy is she unpredictable at times. We have beautiful summer days, but we also have miserably hot ones. Our fall foliage is unbeatable, but that cold sure can be biting late in the season. One perk of scheduling a studio photo session is that even if your weather app fails you and it downpours on a sunny day you’re planning for, we’ll still create amazing images.
Avoiding weather-related delays and reschedules also ensures that you and your family get your photos exactly when you need them. This is especially important if you’re planning to use your photos for holiday cards, gifts, or other timely occasions!
Eyeing that beautiful long sleeve dress in the Client Closet, but see it’s supposed to be 90+ degrees on your scheduled shoot day? No sweat! (See what I did there?) With indoor sessions, you and your family can wear the outfits you want and not worry about shivering in the cold or burning up in the heat!
Without having to dress for the season outdoors, you have more flexibility with your outfit selections. No worrying about whether that too-cute kids’ coat is actually warm or whether it’s too hot for that perfect sweater dress!
Planning to have your photography done as a studio photo session creates many conveniences for expecting parents and families alike. Outdoor sessions require us to move through various site locations and setups, creating terrific image variety for you!
However, because a studio photo session happens inside and in one space, having everything we need handy and within arm’s reach can be really convenient for clients – and me!
Indoor photos make it much simpler to accommodate the variety of client needs that can come up during a session. Whether you’re expecting, bringing your growing family, or taking solo photos, photographing inside allows for easier…
When we hold sessions outdoors, we have the benefit of gorgeous natural backdrops. However, one advantage of an indoor session is that you can shape the aesthetic of your images to whatever your style might be. This is particularly nice if you’re hanging your photos in your home and want them to complement a particular decor.
With photos taken in my studio, you and your family are the main focus of your photos. With a few simple steps and some planning, we can create images in the exact style you want.
I’m a teacher and a mom, and I’ve photographed many families, so wrangling children comes natural and easy to me! But I completely understand how overwhelming it can be for parents. Trying to look happy and relaxed while you’re worried about your escape artist toddler can be challenging!
One of the nicest things about an indoor session is that you can keep your family close. Just adjacent to my studio is a living room space with comfy chairs, toys for your kiddos, and snacks. Without the distraction of the outdoors, studio sessions are sometimes a bit less daunting for parents. This lets us document more moments of your family feeling together, and it can also feel a bit more intimate!
Okay, I saved this one for last because, at the end of the day, I believe your inner beauty is what shines through in photography. At the same time, I can appreciate wanting your beautifully styled hair to stay styled. Or not wanting that makeup look you perfected to sweat off outside. So, my last reason to consider a studio photo session is that it makes primping easier!
Studio photo sessions don’t have any of the elements that can get in the way. Sure, a light breeze can gently move your hair in a naturally beautiful movement. And the sun’s rays on that stunning eye or lip color might highlight your features. But that breeze can also gust up a dress or blow your hair in your face.
With studio sessions, you can rest assured that the looks you spent time putting together will stay intact. Plus, touch-ups are easy, quick, and convenient!
